Stand up to Sexual Harassment

On 26 October 2024 the new Worker Protection Act 2023 (Amendment of Equality Act 2010) came into force. This followed a government consultation in 2021, in which 54% of people indicated that they had experienced some form of harassment at work. This new legislation marks one of the most significant updates in more than a decade and signifies a notable shift in UK workplace discrimination laws.

The Act introduces a new legal obligation for employers  to take “all reasonable steps” to proactively prevent sexual harassment in the workplace. This “preventative duty” shifts beyond reacting to complaints and requires employers to take steps to prevent harassment from occurring in the first place.
